Trinamool Congress MP and popular Bengali film actress Nusrat Jahan has received a summons from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding her involvement in an alleged flat selling scam. The ED has directed her to appear at their office in Kolkata on September 12 in connection with the case.
The ED initiated a case against Nusrat Jahan after receiving a complaint from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shankudeb Panda. The complaint alleges that the Trinamool Congress MP engaged in fraudulent activities, deceiving individuals of Rs 5.5 lakh by promising to sell them apartments.
According to the complaint, Nusrat Jahan served as the director of a real estate company called Seven Sense International. The company collected funds from 429 employees of the Indian Overseas Bank, assuring them of 1,000 square feet apartments on the outskirts of Kolkata. However, these individuals neither received the promised apartments nor a refund of their money.
Nusrat Jahan has refuted these allegations, asserting that she resigned from the company in 2017.
ED sources have disclosed that Rakesh Singh, a director of the company, and Ruplekha Mitra, another senior official, have also received summonses from the ED in connection with the case.
Additionally, a case has been filed in Alipore court in Kolkata, charging Nusrat Jahan and others with cheating, dishonestly inducing delivery of property, criminal breach of trust, and acts performed by multiple individuals with a common intention. A summon was also issued to Nusrat Jahan in relation to this case, but she did not appear before the court.
